SOUTH LONDON A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

Looking towards the City

Looking across South London after gaining access to a high roof at Denmark Hill. The steeple of St Giles Church can be clearly seen. Behind it Millwall Football Club is about 1.5 miles away.

From the same roof looking slightly west of north towards Waterloo

A view to the West

Looking more or less due south Denmark Hill reaches it's summit

The Fox On The Hill Pub, cold beers served here

Local to me
2009 Lakanal House, a serious fire caused death here.

Following on

March 2013 The International Journal For Fire Safety Professionals
I was asked by a leading Fire Risk Management Journal if they can have permission to publish this picture of Lakanal House alongside a article explaining how social housing organisations are collaborating to develop fire safety standards. I did not hesitate and said yes, after all, any little thing that can stop this happening again must be a positive thing

A protected species, seen on a wall at Denmark Hill.

Sprouting up, the Shard

This picture was taken of the Shard building near the Borough Underground Station. In the centre is the historic Anglican parish church of St Georges There has been a church on this site since the 12th century. The present building dates from 1736.

Looking at the Shard from the footbridge that leads to London Bridge Railway Station.

A long shot of the Shard taken from Denmark Hill using zoom. 19/11/10

This new building sprung up at the Elephant and Castle. It is called the Strata. I do not know too much about it but when I can find the time I shall google it and have a look.

One of the large blocks of flats that make up the Heygate Estate near the Elephant and Castle. Every single flat is empty and boarded up apart from one. This block is due to be demolished as part of a regeneration scheme and all the tenants were moved out apart from one who lives on the second floor. You can see the flat on the left hand side of the picture. I presume the people did not want to move.

From Denmark Hill SE5 looking across to Battersea power station

Not South London as we know it but just on the border.
One of the lakes at Keston, one of my favourite spots. I have been coming here since I was a kid.
